Snack bento: it is the bunny year!

Snack bento: it is the bunny year!

Is that so my last obento was the puppy one? It has been ages then!! X)

Today´s bento is a very simple one. No intricate designs or anything like that (boring?). I’ve prepared them quickly for my girls´ snack time, in the afternoon (we call it “välipala” in Finnish).

I still intend to make another bunny bento later, to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit (Hare). But for now, this is the one I made to join the “theme”.  ^_^

Contents of the boxes: lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red grapes, half clementine, dried prunes, usagi ringo (apple bunnies),  homemade pizza “cubes” (with tomato sauce, mozzarella, msg-free ham, onions, pineapple pieces and fresh tomato) and twin rabbits made with cheese and nori details.

I thought it would be too much food for them, but Luonnonvoima ate everything, including the lettuce :). (Mom secretly smiles with delight :D)

Sometimes the simple one is the best one. The bunnies look like hoping into your bento box, how fun! Whoa … L ate everything? Good girl! Tell her that Auntie Lia is so proud of her. Is CNY celebrated big there?

  2. karaimame Says:

Thank you Lia! It was so simple that I thought about not posting it :P. Ehehe! Ah! I delivered the message to L and she was happy to hear “mom´s friend liked that I ate everything” :D
CNY is only celebrated by the big chinese community in Finland. There are some fireworks and stuff ^_^

Good girl! Your bunnies are cute! I would call this a cute bento.. My bento all so far are non-cute with not even a face.. Hmm.. I should take an idea from you to add something sweet :)

  4. karaimame Says:

Ah Sheri… but you see, a “pretty face” is not always cute ;).I believe the beauty of the bento, the arrangement of each food item, the combination of colors, the possibility of giving you delight by gazing and eating is more important. And you deliver those in your bentos! *cute* or not ;)
    Thank you ^_^.

Oh I love the apple tulips you made! This is a snack?? Oh. So that’s why my kid is always so hungry afterwards.. not enough food. lol. Your girl also ate the lettuce? I’m jealous. lol! Great duo here!

  6. karaimame Says:

Well, yea, it was a snack. I don´t usually offer that much food but this time I knew they were hungry. The snack time is around 15:00 and then I serve dinner in between 18:00 and 19:00 depending when hubs arrives home.
Ah, thanks! Oldest daughter says lettuce is rabbit food and gobbles everything :P.

Lily-chan, feliz 2011!
Bjsss
